Table Structure
The
Table is run by the Table Council, this section shows who is currently
doing each role and gives a brief description of that role.
To
assist the table, honorary members (up to five) can be used, at the discretion
of the Table Chairman.
2009 - 2010 Roles
Chairman - Tony Piper
Our chairman represents Royston & District Round Table at civic and Table functions making any speeches and presentations that occur during the year. He also chairs our business meetings which are all prompt, well organised and well publicised, as well as fun.
A large part of the role is also cultivating a team spirit and ensure all your Officers know their responsibilities and are pulling their weight.
The chairman is elected to hold office for one year he is responsible for managing the Table. Impartial at Business Meetings with a casting vote only.
Vice Chairman - Ian Larkins
The primary task is Standing in for Chairman in his absence but the role also involves preparation for the coming year to ensure we have continuity.
AJ will also be planning what he is going to try to achieve next year.
Secretary - Angus Hone
Assist the Chairman during meetings and otherwise by preparing agendas for formal meetings, records and circulates these minutes. Provides the Chairman with a list of guests and visitors at each meeting and appoint a Tabler at each appropriate meeting to read/recite Table Grace and Aims and Objects. Appoint a fines master where required.
Ensure that Area and National mailings are given due consideration.
Informs Marchesi House of any change to Tablers details during your year.
Maintain sensible handover records and your Table regalia and ensure that you have ordered your jewels and tankards.
Advise Tablers on procedures for election to Table and Area Posts.
Community Service - Andy Sanderson
Receives requests to Table for Charity donations. This is an important task as it represents one of the public faces of the organisation.
- Keeps Royston & District Round Table informed of all requests and makes recommendations of how appropriate these are, maybe by visiting the organisation or individual concerned.
- Responsible for all correspondence with the various applications.
- Follows up the donations and presents a progress report to the Table.
- Liaise with the Area Community Service Officer and keep him informed of the total raised by your Table in your year.
- Keep Royston Table informed of National initiatives and support these wherever possible The Toddle, Children's Wish, Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Appeal, Children in Need, to mention a few.
Treasurer & Sales - Ian Clarke
Our treasurer is responsible for advising your Table on all matters of finance and providing up to date information when requested.
- Count and bank moneys when collected, arrange for floats when required. Arrange with your bank the change of signatories at the start of your year. Keep accurate records and bank statements. Produce proper audited accounts for your Table AGM and be prepared to answer questions on these.
- He collects the Table, Area and National subscriptions from each Tabler and pay these by 15th July.
- Also coordinates sales of national RTBI goods and regalia.
Table and Social Programme and Meetings - Glenn Foulger
A good programme is the foundation of a successful year - this is where all the fun starts in the planning.
- Organises the regular Table fortnightly meetings and social meetings for the year including advance publicity so that all Tablers know the cost, venue and dates.
- Prepare and circulates the Table Directory and Table Diary, ensuring that Area events appear in it.
- Liaise with area officers to organise visits to neighboring Tables to find out new ideas about successful events. Whenever possible arrange Table scatter nights to other Tables.
- Invite 41 Club and Area Executive to meetings where appropriate.
Family and Social - Ian Dunklin
Working hand in hand with the Programmes and Meetings officer schedules and organises family and social events.
- Organises the Table social functions such as Ladies Night, Burns Night, Summer Barbecue and Christmas Party amongst others.
- Organises family events in addition to the normal "Table" meetings - often at weekends.
- Organises Table social events.
Ways & Means - Mark Ely
Whilst our Community Service Officer
spends the charity account it is the role of Ways and Means to earn the money.
- Organise charity events such as your Christmas Float and Bonfire Night.
- You are responsible for maintaining the Tables fundraising kit which must be kept in good order in a safe place and comply with health and safety regulations.
Membership - Simon Whybrow
Formulates and put into action a Table Membership Plan.
- Inform your Area Membership Officer of any Tablers who move away from your Table.
- Liaise with your Area Membership and Development Officer.
- Obtain new members packs from Marchesi House in advance of induction.
Area and Cluster Liaison - Ian Larkins
Extends the activity of Royston Round Table beyond our local area by engaging with Tables in the local area and organising joint meetings.
- Although all Tablers are encouraged to attend Area functions, you are responsible for representing and presenting your Tables views on any items for Area discussion.
- Keeps our Table informed of any issues which are discussed at Area meetings.
- Might even organise raids on other Tables within our Area "just for the hell of it".
Press & Bulletin - Rhys Lancaster
- Produce a local Table magazine.
- Responsible for maximising the media coverage of the Table by informing them of Fund-raising events and Social functions.
- Prepare material to be sent to your Area Publicity Officer for the Area Magazine. Discuss with him whether the material can be sent on for publication in "Tabler".
- Establish/maintain your Table's website and encourage Tablers to use this as a communication tool.
- Carry your camera with you at all Table events and prepare a scrap book for your Chairman at the end of his year.
Sport - Darren Lane
- Organising sporting events within your Table in liaison with the Programme Convenor.
- Challenge neighboring Tables to sporting competitions and select and train your team for these.
- Organise your Table's team for Area sporting events and enthuse your Table to attend.
- Promote the National Sporting Weekend to Royston RoundTable.
International - Arend Jan Bochoven
- Organise your Table's participation in International Tabling such as twinning tours.
- Keeps the Area 54 International Officer informed of Royston Tables international links and events.
